The Baja California  Peninsula  was separated from main land 6 millions  years ago. 

Due to its  Natural history, geology and location, it offers a great diversity in ecosystems. There are over 300 birds reported in Baja California Peninsula.

Along this 7 Baja Sur endemics' journey  with Birding Los Cabos we will enjoy 7 endemics, many sub-species, residents, migrants and vagrants, also other cultural and natural attractions, meet great local people in their communities , enjoy delicious food , great vistas and other birders sharing same passion everything lead by local keen birders.

Day by Day - program 

Day #1                 Arrivals Spread your wings 

​

Welcome to Baja California, Briefing & welcome dinner. Arrive on your own or ask for transfer at extra cost, check in designated hotel and spread your wings, during evening we will enjoy welcome dinner & briefing. Every morning enjoy a fresh brewed coffee - bring your coffee-mug!!

Day #2              Enjoy  sunrise birding

​

Early in the morning catch up a beautiful Sunrise from sea level, go in search of geldings yellow troath (Geotypis bedingii) and many more birds, warblers, sparrows and waterfowl will be present.

Day #3          In search of  Desert specialties.

​

This day we will go to desiduos forest – semidesert area in search of Xantus humingbird (Xantus hantusii) and Gray Thrasher (Toxostoma scinererum) Phyrruloxia in addition raptors such as zone tailed Hawk, swainson's or harrisi's Hawks also be hosted by a ranchero family.

Day #4         Visit to Biosphere reserve  in search of three endemics.

We will go from sea-level to almost 2000 feet  to enjoy the Biosphere reserve sierra de La Laguna, in search of Cape pygmy owl, san lucas robin and birds junco along with sub-species such as the acorn woodpecker narrow fronted, band-tailed pigeon with no band, lazuli & varied bunting among others.                                                                                   Meals:  B,L

Day #5          Pelagic Boat-Birding.

​

This day we will enjoy least and black storm petrels , craveri's murrelet, red-bill tropic birds, pink footed & black-vented shearwaters, mask & nazca bobbies perhaps other interesting birds like south polar skua, among other marine life we could encounter with sea-lions, manta rays, dolphins or sharks (try your fishing skills at extra cost)

Day #6         Birding , Desert wetlands & sea.

This day our highlights will be Hermans gull,  endemic  yellow-footed gull (Larus livens), along with many more gulls & terns such as elegant, royal, Caspian, fosters perhaps least  terns  and more surprises such as the beautiful mangrove yellow warbler, by the evening we will have our farewell dinner.

Day #7                        Departures on your own or request at additional cost

Lodge:

Due to nature of program we will stay in comfortable hotel Mexican Style  with  en-suite bathroom one or two beds, hot water shower, and air conditioning based in double occupancy unless you request a single room at additional cost . 

Departure & arrivals: 

Please plan to arrive/depart from Los Cabos or La Paz  International.

Airport codes:          SJD or La Paz (LAP) 

Program will begin and end in San Jose Del Cabo, Baja California Sur, México. we have airport-hotel-airport  transfers available at extra cost

San Lucas Robin, (Turdus migratorius confinus), Bird's junco (Junco bairdi) , 

Belling's yellowtroath (Geotypis bedingii), Cassin's vireo (Vireo cassiinii lucasanus) Xantus humingbird, (Xantus hantusii), Gray Thrasher, (Toxostoma scinererum), Yellow-footed gull (Larus livens), Yellow Mangrove warbler (Steophaga petechia castaneiceps),  among other 200 Birds.

Know before you come:

 

  • Prepare for temperatures 20-35 C. or 65-90F

  • We assumed you will bring your binoculars unless you ask us to rent to you.

  • Travel light (do not bring bird books/field-guides  they are heavy and we will have them available for use of group).

  • Bring hiking boots, hat or cap

  • Bring a bottle of water/canteen 1L. to re-fill purified water.

  • Bring Bathing suit  & sandals we might have chance to swim, also oudoor  cotton clothing.

  • A small back-pack for your daily walk 

  • Visitors to Mexico must bring a Valid Health, Medical & Travel Insurance (not included in price)

  • If you are under medication bring enough supply and please let us know in advance
